Fool's Paradise

Openly gay 14-year-old Graeme Taylor appeared on Ellen to talk about his impassioned speech in defense of a teacher who was suspended for kicking out a student for anti-gay remarks.

SO FUCKING INSPIRING.

What affects me about Chick-Fil-A

From a friend on instagram:

If it’s not worth it to engage their behavior, maybe it’s not worth it to be so angry towards these chicken biscuit makers. Even if somehow Chick Fil A went sunk like the titanic, someone somewhere will always be against you and your life.

My response: “Haha cum on guys lol…& I honestly respect your point, and the wb church are the lowest scum on earth and yes they are worse than chickfila, but what affects me is that chickfila supports/funds antigay politics and causes, there’s no way I could sit back, let this happen, be silent, and not bring this up at all. I am angry, and I cant help that it hits me on a personal level, because I am gay. Just as you are as angry with wb church because they picket soldiers funerals. I rarely ever feed into negative circumstances like this because I know it’s not worth giving so much energy towards something so antagonistic, but this time I couldn’t help it.

This was after my Chick Fil A post when they said I got my scriptures wrong or our of context. Looks like I know more about the bible than she does and I’m not even Christian. What a disgrace! Also that guys a hypocrite, and she’s just dumb.

jardoism:

Wow

Animal Style is a song I did for many reasons,” Murs explains. “The first was to be an advocate for people close to me who are out, and those who have yet to come out. It’s also a love song, which is nothing new for me. But with this one I wanted to challenge the listener to ask themselves: Is the love shared by two people of the same gender, really that different than the love I have for my partner of the opposite sex? And finally, I just felt it was crucial for some of us in the hip hop community to speak up on the issues of teen suicide, bullying, and the overall anti-homosexual sentiment that exist within hip hop culture. I felt so strongly about these issues and this song that I had to do a video that would command some attention, even if it makes some viewers uncomfortable. Even if it came at the cost of my own comfort.” - Murs

THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN MORE IN THE HIP HOP COMMUNITY!!

B U T

MUST READ: Right-wing leaders are already plotting their next moves – and a new, more anti-gay Congress taking power in January is eager to help.

John McCain – who was so angry about “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” that he stormed out of the Senate – will be joined by dozens of anti-gay lawmakers in the House of Representatives who want to stop LGBT equality from moving forward just as badly as he does. They’re already talking about undoing critical protections for LGBT people. And it’s not just Congress: right-wing groups have begun concerted, well-funded campaigns to roll back marriage equality in multiple states.

They’re spitting mad. Just read these quotes from past week:

  • “We are now stuck with sexual deviants serving openly in the U.S. military… If historians want a fixed marker pointing to the instant the United States sealed its own demise, they just found it.” – Bryan Fischer, American Family Association

  • “The American military… has now been hijacked and turned into a tool for imposing on the country a radical social agenda.” – Tony Perkins, Family Research Council.

  • “This action will be overturned in the next Congress.” – Matthew Staver, Freedom Federation

  • “The repeal of the ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ law is a disaster of historic proportions and it must be reinstated. My organization and others will to fight to make sure that happens.” – E. W. Jackson, Stand America PAC

These are the people who will have the ear of our leaders next year.

We can’t give up.

PLEASE REBLOG IF YOU’RE ALSO FUCKING TIRED OF IGNORANCE WITHIN POLITICS.
