Macklemore - “Same Love”

“When I was at church they taught me something else. If you preach hate at the service those words aren’t anointed, that holy water that you soak in has been poisoned. When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen.. I might not be the same, but that’s not important. No freedom till we’re equal, damn right I support it”

This song and music video is so perfect.

Openly gay 14-year-old Graeme Taylor appeared on Ellen to talk about his impassioned speech in defense of a teacher who was suspended for kicking out a student for anti-gay remarks.

SO FUCKING INSPIRING.

Let’s have a discussion: “SEXUAL ORIENTATION vs. SEXUAL PREFERENCE” Do we choose to be gay?

Her argument is that: Until it is proven by scientists that being gay is imbedded within our genetics, being gay, lesbian, bi, trans etc is a choice we make. I understand some people do make a choice in their life, some time or another…but take a read, I cover that in my last statement:

Her: The argument between genetics and lifestyle is argued even IN the homosexual community. Until they have found and scientifically proven either side of the argument, let’s accept both ideas as equally thought out and worthy of some respect. Equally. Hmm, that word sounds familiar

Me: What?? I’m kinda confused where you’re coming from. If you’re saying being gay is a choice- There needs nothing to be proved. I was born gay, as with 99% of the gay community. I’ve been attracted to guys ever since I can remember. Why would people choose to be gay? I’m sure a gay person wouldn’t just one day choose to be gay on top of all the other bullshit going on in the world to have more struggle in their life.

Her: I’m not coming from any position, I really do not care. I’m saying that until it is scientifically proven that homosexuality is a genetic trait and not a choice lets respect both viewpoints

Me: Youre oblivious to what my point is. Thats where youre wrong. Being gay is not a sexual preference. You seem to not understand. Goodbye

Her: Well then let’s talk like adults. If homosexuality is not a sexual preference, then please tell me what it is.

Me: A preference is something you CHOOSE over another thing because you prefer and like it MORE than another thing. I never have and do not prefer anything other than a hard throbbing penis. Since you’re obviously straight and you believe someone can choose to be gay, have you ever craved pussy? Could you choose to be lesbian?

Her: Preference is not necessarily associated with choice. It is a greater liking for one thing as an alternative for another. You have proved my point with your statement. “I never have and do not PREFER anything other than [male genitalia].” Thus you have said that you prefer it… which makes it a PREFERence. If you do not wish for homosexuality to be called a sexual preference, please give me a more fitting alternative term. Otherwise, it is a sexual preference.

Me: Sexual orientation!?…..I knew I was gay since like 7 years old. I’ve never been sexually/physically attracted to a female and so I’ve never had a relationship or been sexual with women. Lots of people aren’t lucky enough to have been this sure for most of their life. So many people experiment 2 see where they fit n for sure. You are confusing orientation with sexual BEHAVIOR. That’s where sexual preference comes n2 play. There is no such thing as “sexual peference” to how I identify myself being gay. There is only inborn, natural orientation. Some LGBT people have had straight sex, and some have produced childen. Some straight men have had sex with other men in prison. This doesn’t make them one bit changed in their ORIENTATION. We choose with whom to have sex. We do not choose to whom we are attracted.

What affects me about Chick-Fil-A

From a friend on instagram:

If it’s not worth it to engage their behavior, maybe it’s not worth it to be so angry towards these chicken biscuit makers. Even if somehow Chick Fil A went sunk like the titanic, someone somewhere will always be against you and your life.

My response: “Haha cum on guys lol…& I honestly respect your point, and the wb church are the lowest scum on earth and yes they are worse than chickfila, but what affects me is that chickfila supports/funds antigay politics and causes, there’s no way I could sit back, let this happen, be silent, and not bring this up at all. I am angry, and I cant help that it hits me on a personal level, because I am gay. Just as you are as angry with wb church because they picket soldiers funerals. I rarely ever feed into negative circumstances like this because I know it’s not worth giving so much energy towards something so antagonistic, but this time I couldn’t help it.

When will people stop bringing up the damn bible. (when I posted about gay marriage on my Instagram)

  • Shinemen: Baby you gotta go by the bible. They not saying they hate you. They just going by what the bible said. They didn't write the book. Sometime you have to put your self in other ppl shoes. Then you will have a more understanding of the humane race
  • Clydeanthany(me): @shinemen I know you do not mean harm or hate by what you said, & I'm very well habituated and comfortable with myself and how I was born, so your statement doesn't impinge me, but how can you say that to somebody who is gay or especially just realizing they are gay and expect it not to tormit, damage and crush them emotionally because youre basically saying the way they were BORN is unnatural and wrong? It surprises me that you can even say it to a complete stranger. I hope if you have a gay kid or family member, you don't do the same towards them. Peace

This was after my Chick Fil A post when they said I got my scriptures wrong or our of context. Looks like I know more about the bible than she does and I’m not even Christian. What a disgrace! Also that guys a hypocrite, and she’s just dumb.

Wow

Animal Style is a song I did for many reasons,” Murs explains. “The first was to be an advocate for people close to me who are out, and those who have yet to come out. It’s also a love song, which is nothing new for me. But with this one I wanted to challenge the listener to ask themselves: Is the love shared by two people of the same gender, really that different than the love I have for my partner of the opposite sex? And finally, I just felt it was crucial for some of us in the hip hop community to speak up on the issues of teen suicide, bullying, and the overall anti-homosexual sentiment that exist within hip hop culture. I felt so strongly about these issues and this song that I had to do a video that would command some attention, even if it makes some viewers uncomfortable. Even if it came at the cost of my own comfort.” - Murs

THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN MORE IN THE HIP HOP COMMUNITY!!
